ABOUT MELANIE

🇬🇷 I am Melanie, born and raised in Athens. I am a award winning social activist, a photographer and filmmaker.

💫 I have experience in leading change within social inequality specifically focusing on vulnerable young people and refugees. I believe in empowering marginalised communities by improving their access to choice, healthier lifestyles, education and employment. I do this through my work as the founder of The MAZI Project.

📸 I come from a documentary filmmaking and photography background and aim to incorporate my storytelling skills in campaigning for change in policy and perspective indicatating to wider socio - political issues through strong character led photo and video projects with a focus on food. Images have been in @britishvogue @bristol247, Bristol Cable - @guardian is my next mission! 🙏

📣 I am an expert in my field and I have growing experience contributing on radio and tv as well as on panel debates and hosting expert discussions.

🔍 I have in-depth and ongoing global field research experience. Recently, been awarded a Churchill Fellowship to research how investing in food education and community spaces can prevent social inequality! Learnings, I will bring to the UK in hope of creating a fairer world.

📖 I am currently studying a Masters at University of Bristol in Education, Policy and International Development. I will embrace the learnings from this degree to ensure education is used as a tool for freedom for the oppressed, to give everyone equal opportunity to succeed and contribute to loving ourselves, our communities and our planet.
